Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[64Cu]Cu-AKY-1189 is a novel Nectin-4–targeted radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed using Aktis Oncology’s proprietary miniprotein radioconjugate platform. It utilizes the copper-64 isotope for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to assess Nectin-4 expression and monitor tumor response in patients with solid tumors. Nectin-4 is a cell-surface protein highly expressed in several cancers, including metastatic urothelial carcinoma, triple negative breast cancer, and other solid tumors, with limited expression in normal tissues. The agent is paired with its therapeutic counterpart ([225Ac]Ac-AKY-1189) in theranostic clinical protocols, enabling clinicians to visualize target engagement and tumor uptake prior to therapeutic intervention. This approach aims to personalize therapy and maximize anti-tumor efficacy while minimizing exposure to normal tissues. Clinical development of [64Cu]Cu-AKY-1189 is underway as an imaging companion in the NECTINIUM-2 phase 1b trial in the United States[1][2][4][5][7].
